The collagen-elastin matrix MatriDerm® supports dermal regeneration even after severe skin injuries.
MatriDerm® is a biomatrix based on the architecture of normal human dermis. This three dimensional scaffold (see image) serves as a open porous framework, which allows fast revascularisation and colonisation with autologous cells.

After MatriDerm® insertion the matrix is covered with a very thin split thickness skin graft. The body completely converts the collagen-elastin matrix into autologous the body’s own dermal tissue during the healing process. The skin which is reconstructed in this way is more elastic and is capable at an earlier stage of bearing greater mechanical strain than is possible in the case of an isolated split thickness skin graft without MatriDerm®.
